Helping Families Afford Education

We believe every child should have access to the education of their family's choice, and we’re here to help make it affordable. Through Arizona’s tax credit program, families can receive scholarships to cover their tuition at private schools.

How It Works

  • Arizona taxpayers can donate to our scholarship program and receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on their state taxes.
  • Reduce Your State Taxes: You can claim a tuition tax credit to lower your Arizona state tax bill but only up to the total amount of state taxes you owe for the year. If your donation is more than your tax liability, the extra amount won’t count as a credit but can be used as a credit next year.
  • We use these donations to award tuition scholarships to K-12 students attending partner schools.
  • Donors can recommend a school or student (who is not their own dependent) to be considered for a scholarship.

Important Notes

  • Parents cannot donate to or recommend their own child.
  • Scholarship funds cannot be used for preschool, except for students with disabilities.
  • If a scholarship exceeds tuition, the extra amount rolls over to the next school year.
  • Donations are due by Tax Day (April 15) to qualify as a tax credit for the prior tax year.

Scholarship Types

There are two types of scholarships:

  1. Original Scholarships – Available to any student enrolled in a participating school.
  2. Overflow Scholarships – Available to students who meet one of these criteria:
    • Transferred from a public school (after attending for at least 90 days)
    • A preschooler with disabilities receiving special services
    • A kindergartner (age 5 by Dec. 31 of that school year)
    • A dependent of an active-duty military member stationed in Arizona
    • Previously homeschooled or moved to Arizona from another state
    • Participated in the ESA program but switched to tax credit scholarships
    • Previously received an Overflow or Corporate scholarship and stayed in private school

If your student qualifies, we’ll need a verification form to confirm eligibility.

How to Apply

  • Submit a Scholarship Application for each child enrolled in a participating school.
  • Applications must be renewed each school year and expire on May 31.

Award Process

  • Scholarships are awarded four times per year based on:
    1. Financial need (required by law)
    2. The student’s application narrative
    3. Donor recommendations (while helpful, they do not guarantee a scholarship)

By using Arizona’s tax credit program, we can help make private education more affordable for your family. Apply today!
